Unlike other spreads Alfa One spread is made from rice bran oil and it is not mixed with vegetable or palm oil. Alfa One Rice Bran Oil spreads melt, taste and cook like butter and contain less than half the saturated fat of butter.
Alfa One Rice Bran Oil Spreads contains Oryzanol – a naturally occurring nutrient found in the rice plant which has been shown to help reduce cholesterol absorption. And you will be pleased to know that Alfa One spreads contain no hydrogenated or trans fats and no artificial colours or flavours.
How is Alfa One Spread made?
Alfa One spreads are made in New Zealand from 100% Alfa One Rice Bran oil. The oil is combined with hard rice bran fraction which is mixed with natural butter flavour a little salt, and an emulsifier to bind it together.
Unlike other spreads Alfa One spread is produced using only rice bran oil, and is not mixed with palm oil or other vegetable oils. The emulsifier in Alfa One which makes up less than than 1% of the total product is currently sourced from palm oil. Our policy is to try and eliminate palm oil from our emulsifier in the long term.
The UN ranks the palm oil industry as the leading cause of rainforest destruction in Malaysia and Indonesia. That is pushing the Orangutan closer to extinction.
Alfa One also does not contain any hydrogenated fats (fat made solid by passing hydrogen through it). The process of hydrogenation produces trans fats (the worst possible fat type for your body).
